Kameleo v1.5.5 released

Just another quick fix update package for Kameleo, solving an issue related to timezone spoofing. As well more and more languages are added.

  • Involving DST in timezone spoofing: Spoofing timezone is a hard business. Finding the correct timezone and thinking about Daylight Saving Time is difficult. We fixed a bug so the Windows based time zones are working correctly during DST as well. We wrote an article to our knowledgebase to make things more understandable.

Timezone spoofing

Timezone can be also obtained using common JavaScript functionality. Kameleo can spoof this.

There are two different ways to determine time:

  • System Time (requested thru Javascript)
  • Local time (based on the IP address)

Kameleo spoofs the System Time, but if you want to reach 100% anonymity you will need to choose a timezone that fits the IP address’s location’s timezone. Read more about this in the article about 100% anonimity.

You can set up the Timezone in the app

If you select the correct timezone for you IP you will get 100% anonymity.

Daylight saving time

Note: you have to think also about daylight saving time. It messes things up a little bit, but if you read this below you will understand.

Let’s say you want to have a profile in San Antonio, Texas. Here you can check the timezone of San Antonio: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/san-antonio

San Antonio is in the (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) timezone. This is how it is officially called. You also see it in the Windows Timezone settings.

Note that this naming convention is a bit confusing since San Antonio has DST (Daylight Saving Time). It means that during the year the local time is changed by 1 hour. During the American summer the time in San Antonio, Texas is UTC-05 but it is still in the UTC-06:00 Central Time (US & Canada) timezone. This can be very confusing.

For example right now (9th May) I check San Antonio’s timezone. It says it is UTC-5.

If I now set (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) my timezone will be just spoofed with UTC-4 hours because of the DST. So in this case I selected the wrong timezone.

Be careful because even the Vip72 Socks Client can trick you. Here it shows UTC-05 again. But the correct timezone is UTC-06.

For your convenience we implemented little helper tools. You can find the timezone selectors in the Tools menu.

It will help you to always find the correct timezone.

How to update

When you start Kameleo it will offer to update your software. Download and install it and you can enjoy the new features of Kameleo. If it doesn’t start to download try to update manually, by launching updater.exe from the program folder.

Future plans

We are still working on making Kameleo better. Here are a couple of the features we are implementing.

  • Auto Timezone spoofing
  • Virtual Mobile Profiles

Keep updated on our knowledgebase and youtube channel as well, since we will upload new articles and videos there.
